You may recognize two of the greatest names in education in the Lincoln Parish area. Rick Sutton served as principal of Howard School on the Ruston campus of Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home for many years and again as interim principal for the past few months. Danny Bell, recently retired from his position as Superintendent of the Lincoln Parish School Board and is now the new Director of Education for the Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home (LMCH).

When then principal Tony Cain retired effective July 30, 2015, LMCH President and CEO Rick Wheat knew it would take some time and effort to find the right person for such an important position. He didn’t hesitate to call on former principal Rick Sutton to fill in and assist in the search, and we are all thankful to Mr. Sutton for his willingness to come out of retirement to help out. The search led them to Danny Bell who officially began his new position as Director of Education on October 1, 2015.

Teachers and staff of Howard School as well as the Home gathered to say goodbye to Mr. Sutton once again. Many laughs and stories were shared as Rick Wheat thanked Mr. Sutton for serving the school and Home he loves.
