Who We Are

The Methodist Children’s Home of Southeast Louisiana provides residential care for up to 32 children who cannot live with their families, in foster care, or in group homes because of their significant emotional and behavioral needs.

Providing intensive, comprehensive and holistic residential care.

On 125 acres in Tangipahoa parish we have gathered the best programs, practices and features of what we have developed elsewhere in Louisiana. We will put it all together in one place, the new permanent location of the Methodist Children’s Home of Southeast Louisiana.

Half of Louisiana’s population lives in the parishes within a 75 mile radius of the MCHSELA campus located on Hwy 445, four miles north of I-12. Our services are in the middle of the growing New Orleans/Baton Rouge/Northshore Metropolitan area.

We offer services encompassing structured residential care to equine-assisted psychotherapy, from intensive alternative educational services to a basecamp for the home and community services we will offer throughout the region.

Opening the new Methodist Children’s Home of Southeast Louisiana provides a permanent home for our next 100 years of ministry to children and families.

We are preparing a portion of the property for group/experiential activities and animal-assisted therapies, bringing the most effective and exciting programs of our Outdoor Wilderness Learning Center in Dubach, Louisiana, to MCHSELA.
