- 2024-05-21: Read Louisiana Lacks Standards to Protect Children Held in Converted Shipping Containers: An Advocacy Paper on Behalf of Louisiana’s Children. LUMCFS is against the use of converted shipping containers for the detention and incarceration of children. If Louisiana permits their use, the state must promulgate Minimum Licensing Standards to ensure the safety and well-being of children.

- 2023-06-07: Child Advocacy works! On June 7, 2023, Louisiana’s Legislature passed SB137, the bill which will create the Louisiana Office of Children’s Ombudsman. Among the last states to have a Children’s Ombudsman, Louisiana can take advantage of the decades of experience other states’ Ombuds have in ensuring children receive quality services.
