A youth group from First Baptist Church of Huntingdon, Tennessee, has been working hard on our campus this week. They have been serving the Children’s Home as part of YouthMinistry360 summer camp, in various capacities.

They spent two days at the OWL Center picking berries, removing fallen limbs, canning jelly, and cleaning fences. On their third day of mission work they visited the main campus for a tour with our Director of Pastoral Care, Rev. Edie DeVilbiss.

Afterward, they split into two groups. One group painted a praise and worship banner for our chapel services. The second group measured, taped, and painted the lines on both basketball courts at the Scott building. The Scott building residents were all very excited!

Before leaving campus, Pastoral Care Assistant, Rebecca Deich had the volunteers sign a basketball to give to our youth. Earlier in the week, Rebecca had been gathering signatures from not just our youth, but staff as well, including CEO Rick Wheat, our chefs, accountants and many child care workers. Rebecca presented this ball to the youth group as a gift and and challenged them, saying “Every time you play basketball, look at that ball and pray for someone by name because there is power in prayer and we all need their prayers.”

Thank you to the youth and volunteers from First Baptist Church of Huntingdon, Tennessee, for visiting us, and for all of their hard work!
