On behalf of the Louisiana United Methodist Children’s Home (LMCH), I want to thank Governor Jindal for the monies awarded to the Drug Awareness and Violence Prevention Program at Howard School.  Howard School is located on the Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home campus where we provide services to youth from all over the state of Louisiana.  With the awarded monies we facilitate positive behavior by educating our youth about drugs and violence, show them how to make positive choices by teaching social skills, coping skills for anger management and life skills. We also teach staff about substance abuse and gang awareness in an effort to increase their competence about the dangers that our youth face.  Our goal with this funding is to change negative risk-taking behaviors in youth so they can return to society and be productive citizens.
