A gospel music concert to benefit Methodist Children’s Home of Greater New Orleans will take place at the Elizabeth Sullivan Memorial Methodist Church Family Life Center in Bogalusa, Louisiana, at 6 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2013.

Singing for the Children will feature performances by the Harry’s Chapel Glee Singers; New Life Country Gospel from McComb, Mississippi; and the Southern Harmony Quartet.

The Methodist Children’s Home of Greater New Orleans has cared for children since 1886. Following Hurricane Katrina and since joining Louisiana United Methodist Children and Family Services, the home has been located on the grounds of the former Southeast Louisiana State Hospital in Mandeville, Louisiana.

The Board of Directors has authorized the purchase of 80 acres, half of which will be used as a residential treatment center and half left available for outdoor experiences and experiential therapies such as equine-assisted psychotherapy. The Home is actively searching for property.

There is no charge for admission to “Singing for the Children,” but donations for the Home will be accepted.
