The Adopt-A-School Program challenged students to become “Agents for Change” with this year’s spring service project. It was decided the program would implement a new award that recognizes a Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce Partner that has served as an agent for change through its partnership with a school during the year. This year’s inaugural award recognized Log Cabin/Ponchatoula’s/Cheeburger Cheeburger for focusing on an area of critical need within Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home’s Howard School’s academic efforts. Recognizing that reading needed to be raised to a level of importance, the school implemented enhanced library resources and this partner fully funded incentives at the school. Incentive awards of all types were purchased so that reading could be encouraged and students honored with some small token in return for their proven efforts.

As a result of this encouragement, students are embracing reading and behaviors are improving as a result of the incentive resources.
