Over 70 members of Louisiana Tech’s football team spent their Thanksgiving week giving back to the Ruston community, spending close to 12 hours over three days volunteering at various organizations in Lincoln Parish.
LA Tech football players volunteered at the Boys & Girls Club of North Central Louisiana, the Lincoln Council on Aging, the Methodist Children’s Home and the Alpine Retirement Center on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
“It has been a blessing to come out here and talk with these kids,” said redshirt senior Ross Jenkins while he was spending time at the Methodist Children’s Home on Tuesday. “Many of them are just looking for role models or more friends. A lot of these kids have never been to a college game before and don’t have many of the opportunities that a lot of us just take for granted.”
On Monday, members of the team went to the Boys & Girls Club of North Central Louisiana to help paint and revitalize the organization’s building. Tuesday witnessed groups headed to the Lincoln Council on Aging and the Methodist Children’s Home and on Wednesday, the team returned to the Boys & Girls Club and visited the Alpine Retirement Center.
