Mr. Kurt LaBeaud serves as the Maintenance Supervisor for Methodist Home for Children of Greater New Orleans.
Kurt has been employed by the Home for almost 8 years. Prior to that, he did contract work, worked off-shore, in hotels and at several mental health facilities as a facilities engineer.
Currently, in his daily work, Kurt handles all facets of building maintenance, vehicle maintenance and general grounds-keeping. He says “I enjoy the people that I work with, and I enjoy interacting with the youth.”
Kurt has remarkable talents and abilities. In his first year of employment, Kurt successfully completed tasks that had previously been contracted out to several contractors, thus saving the agency money.
Kurt says he has seen several youth come through the program. “It’s very rewarding to hear from youth that we served years ago. They will call or write to tell us they are doing well and to say thank-you,” he shares.
Of his job, Kurt says, “I love to make people laugh. There’s no reason you can’t come to work and make it fun as long as everything is getting accomplished.”
