Providing Care Near You

In 2022, with the opening of the new 125-acre Methodist Children’s Home of Southeast Louisiana, we successfully regionalized our intensive residential treatment services. By strategically locating our three residential treatment facilities in the bootstrap (Ruston), heel (Sulphur), and toe (Loranger) of Louisiana’s boot, we make it possible for children to receive care much closer to their family homes. We did this because the more involved families are in a child’s treatment, the more successful the outcomes will be. While placement into the facility closest to your family is not always possible if a vacancy is unavailable, our Admissions staff work diligently to admit children into care closest to their families.

Louisiana United Methodist Children and Family Services provides intensive residential treatment for children and adolescents in three children’s homes which are located in the bootstrap, heel and toe of Louisiana’s boot-shaped state:

  • Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home – Licensed for 96 beds in Ruston
  • Methodist Children’s Home of Southwest Louisiana – Licensed for 28 beds in Sulphur
  • Methodist Children’s Home of Southeast Louisiana – Licensed for 32 beds in Loranger

All three children’s homes are nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation and the EAGLE Commission and are licensed by Louisiana Department of Health as psychiatric residential treatment facilities to provide Louisiana’s most intensive residential treatment services for children and adolescents.

You should know few children require intensive residential treatment services.  More often, less intensive levels of care such as Therapeutic Group Homes, Qualified Residential Treatment Programs, Non-medical Group Homes, Home-based services, Kinship care, or community-based family therapy may be more appropriate for you and your child. Our admissions team is happy to help direct you to sources of information for further assistance.
