Last year, Methodist Children’s Home youth “Jesse” celebrated Christmas Day with us.
Jesse was known for his tough and guarded demeanor. One Christmas wish-come-true revealed what we knew all along—he’s a great kid with a big heart.
When he received a skateboard—an item at the top of his Christmas Wishlist, Jesse’s guard came down and he began to cry. Tears of gratitude streaked his face. He couldn’t believe his Christmas Wish had come true! In this moment of vulnerability, we provided a safe, nurturing environment for Jesse to experience the joy of Christmas.
Small moments like this are so big to our kids. The excitement of Christmas at Methodist Children’s Home becomes unforgettable childhood memories our youth will cherish for life.
